A Dream Gourmet Tour for Foodies
The Brief
A private air charter company approached us to design a two-day itinerary for 10 guests. The guests were discerning, well-travelled foodies with high expectations who would be spending up to nine days exploring South Australia, with plans to visit Kangaroo Island, the Eyre Peninsula, the Flinders Ranges, and, naturally, the Limestone Coast.
Our brief included curating high-end dining experiences featuring iconic Coonawarra wines, exclusive meet-the-winemaker sessions, premium accommodation, and opportunities to connect with local producers for a truly immersive and luxurious experience.
What we put together
We crafted an exceptional itinerary that began with private luxury transport from the local airstrip to Wynns Coonawarra, where the group enjoyed an exclusive wine-tasting session with a winemaker in the historic cellar. Afterward, guests indulged in a delightful luncheon at Ottelia, showcasing fresh local produce and the region’s culinary excellence. The afternoon continued with private tastings at Katnook, featuring top-tier wines, before a break to prepare for a stunning feast with Pipers of Penola. The following morning included a guided walk through St Mary’s Wines, with its breathtaking open garden, offering a perfect opportunity to immerse in the natural beauty of the Limestone Coast. Hearty platters were served at Brands Laira in Eric’s Cellar, complemented by the finest of Brands wines. A visit to a private kangaroo sanctuary allowed guests to cuddle orphaned joeys while supporting vital conservation efforts.
As a special treat, the day concluded with a private chef’s table experience at Mayura Station, renowned for its full-blood Japanese Wagyu beef. Local wines were expertly paired with the meal, and guests had the chance to watch the chefs at work, capturing memorable photos and engaging in lively conversation. This exclusive experience offered the perfect blend of luxury, gastronomy, and meaningful connections with the region.
An excellent tour taking in 4 top notch wineries in Coonawarra. Kerry the tour guide picked us up promptly from our motel. She was friendly and knowledgeable and clearly knew her stuff. We visited 4 very different cellar doors, the first providing a delicious food platter with the tasting. The day was unrushed and we had plenty of time at each venue to taste, ask questions and purchase. A great day and a great tour all round. Highly recommend.
