An amazing way to learn more about the Limestone Coast and enjoy the local experiences

My wife and I were looking at coming down to the Limestone coast for our honeymoon, which is how we discovered Coonawarra Experiences. Straight from the beginning, Simon & Kerry were exceptional with their communication via text, call and email back and forth organising an itinerary and accommodation for us during a difficult COVID-19 time. Once we had finalised our plans and arrived in Penola, we were chauffeured around to the various events we had booked including: a chefs table at Mayura Station, meeting winemakers, and staff taking us through their wineries and tastings, degustation lunches etc. It was an absolute pleasure to be looked after by Simon and Kerry. We have learnt so much about the history of the Limestone Coast and what goes into winemaking. We will definitely be back

Package Details

Take the scenic route from Adelaide to Coonawarra, and stay for two nights at the amazing Bellwether Wines near Penola in your choice of Make Trax Caravan or Camper Trailer.

Upon arrival at your powered boutique campsite, you will be greeted with a local produce platter, a private wine tasting and your conveniently prepped campfire meals before settling in to soak up the stunning property.

Wake the next day to a breakfast hamper of fresh local produce before being picked up for your personal tailored wine tour with Coonawarra Experiences, with an included 2 course lunch!

The Tour

After an amazing night sleeping under the Bellwether stars, the team from Coonawarra Experiences will pick you up to take you out for a day of wine adventure surrounded by the vines of Coonawarra.

The Immerse Yourself in Coonawarra Tour is a full-day experience that allows you to meet the winemakers of Coonawarra’s famous Terra Rossa strip, and enjoy intimate private tasting sessions with your hosts. We'll have a delicious lunch in town and take in a spot of local sightseeing along the way.

The Accommodation

Choose your preferred vehicle from the Make Trax depot, either a fully equipped Make Trax Caravan or Camper Trailer.

Bellwether is a very special place. Camp surrounded by ancient red gums, some bearing canoe scars from a time when the Boandik people thrived in what was swamp country.

Being more of a boutique campsite the limited number of powered sites are spaced out for privacy, with beautiful facilities including; bathrooms featuring a claw foot bath, laundry, camp kitchen, produce garden and a 5 star Halliday rated winery.

Bellwether Winery

Food & Drinks

You will arrive at your campsite greeted with a local produce platter and private wine tasting. Once you're done tasting, choose your own bottle of Bellwether wine, also included!

Dinner is provided for 2 nights, including locally sourced premium BBQ meats, a par cooked camp oven roast and fresh garden veggies to cook in the Camp Kitchen or the open fire.

A breakfast hamper is included for one morning, with farm fresh eggs, local sourced bacon and fresh sourdough bread made right at Bellwether. Help yourself to the vege garden and cook in the Camp Kitchen at your leisure!

On the Immerse Yourself in Coonawarra tour, you will enjoy plenty of delicious food throughout the tour including a gourmet platter and a delicious 2-course lunch.
